Consentmo Is Now Integrated Inside Shopify Sidekick

Consentmo now integrates with Shopify Sidekick, letting merchants check their privacy compliance status, review consent analytics, and spot configuration gaps, all through a simple conversation inside Shopify admin.

Managing privacy compliance on your Shopify store means tracking cookie banners, consent records, GDPR configurations, regional coverage, privacy request pages, and more.

Checking each of these manually takes time and attention most merchants don't have spare.

Consentmo now integrates with Shopify Sidekick - Shopify's built-in AI commerce assistant - so you can get clear answers about your store's privacy setup without leaving Shopify admin or clicking through settings one by one.

What Is Shopify Sidekick?

Shopify Sidekick is the AI assistant built directly into the Shopify admin. It helps merchants get answers, navigate settings, and complete tasks without leaving their workflow.

With Sidekick app extensions, now available to third-party Shopify apps, Sidekick can also surface data and insights from those apps in the same conversation.

Consentmo is one of the first privacy compliance apps to build a Sidekick extension, making it possible for merchants to ask natural-language questions about their GDPR, CCPA, and accessibility setup and get instant, relevant answers.

What Can You Ask Sidekick About Consentmo?

The integration covers seven key areas of your Consentmo setup.

1. Get a Quick Compliance Overview

With Sidekick, you can ask one question and get a plain-English summary of your current compliance posture. Sidekick pulls the relevant data from Consentmo and tells you what is enabled, what is missing, and what may need attention, all in a single response.

This is especially useful for busy merchants who want a reliable snapshot before touching their configuration. Instead of clicking through five different sections to confirm that everything is in order, a single question gives you the answer and flags anything that warrants a closer look.

Example questions:

  • Am I compliant?
  • Is Google Consent Mode configured?
  • Do I have privacy request pages enabled?
  • Is my cookie banner active for Europe?
Consentmo Sidekick integration answering whether a cookie banner is active for Europe.

The answers Sidekick gives here are based on your live Consentmo configuration, so you're always looking at the current state of your store.

2. Spot and Resolve Compliance Gaps

A missing integration, an misconfigured region, or a warning buried in a settings panel can sit unnoticed. Sidekick changes that dynamic. It can surface configuration warnings, flag missing integrations, and identify region coverage issues proactively within the conversation. Instead of leaving you to interpret settings on your own, it gives you a guided view of what needs attention and why.

This is particularly valuable for merchants who have grown into new markets or recently changed their store setup. Adding a new country to your shipping zones, for example, might mean your cookie banner now needs to cover an additional region that it currently does not. Sidekick can catch that kind of gap and point you toward the fix.

Example questions:

  • What else do I need to do for the countries I sell in?
  • How can I improve my compliance?
  • What is my Compliance Score?

The goal is to give merchants a more guided experience on what needs doing rather than waiting for you to figure it out yourself.

3. Check Consent and Privacy Request Activity Safely

Merchants regularly need to check on consent activity and privacy request logs. How many deletion requests have come in? Are there any pending data subject access requests? Has anyone submitted a withdrawal request under EU rules? These are legitimate operational questions that come up during audits, compliance reviews, and customer interactions.

The challenge is that answering these questions typically requires opening a dashboard, navigating to the right section, and reading through records that include personal data. With Sidekick, you can ask about consent records, DSAR logs, deletion requests, and EU withdrawal activity, and get useful summary answers, without any customer PII ever appearing in the conversation.

Consentmo's integration is designed with a strict privacy-safe constraint: it returns only safe counts, status checks, and existence-based answers. It can tell you that three deletion requests are pending, or that withdrawal request activity has increased over the past week. It cannot tell you who submitted those requests, what their email addresses are, or any other identifying information. Customer names, IP addresses, emails, and all other personal identifiers are completely excluded from Sidekick responses.

Example questions to try:

  • Are there any pending deletion requests?
  • Have there been any DSAR submissions recently?
  • What's the status of my withdrawal requests?

This makes it possible to stay on top of privacy request activity through quick, conversational checks without compromising the privacy of the customers those records belong to.

4. Review Consent Analytics Conversationally

Understanding how visitors interact with your cookie banner is important. Acceptance rates, rejection rates, country-level breakdowns, device trends, and changes over time all inform decisions about banner design, wording, region setup, and consent options. Sidekick makes this much faster. You can ask about your consent analytics in plain language and get a direct answer, no dashboard required. Sidekick pulls the relevant data from Consentmo and gives you a clear response.

This is also useful during A/B tests. If you're running two versions of your cookie banner to see which one performs better, you can ask Sidekick how the test is going and get a quick update on which variant is leading and by how much, without interrupting your workflow to pull up a separate report.

For merchants who monitor banner performance regularly, this turns a task that previously required navigating to a specific screen into a simple question.

Example questions to try:

  • What's my consent acceptance rate?
  • What devices are visitors using most?
  • How has consent activity changed over the last 30 days?
  • How is my A/B test performing?

The data Sidekick returns here is real-time, pulled directly from your Consentmo analytics so you're always working with current numbers, not a stale snapshot.

5. Review Feature Status and Setup Coverage

Consentmo covers a wide range of privacy and accessibility features: the cookie consent banner, the Privacy Center, the Withdrawal Contract, the Accessibility Statement, DSAR handling, regional coverage settings, third-party integrations, and more. For merchants who have been using the app for a while, it can be hard to keep track of exactly what is enabled, what is configured, and what still needs attention.

Sidekick makes it easy to get a clear picture of your feature coverage at any point. You can ask whether specific features are enabled, whether your regional banner configuration covers the markets you operate in, or whether any integrations are missing that your setup requires.

Example questions to try:

  • Is the Privacy Center enabled?
  • Do I have a Withdrawal page set up?
  • Do I have all the integrations I need for my setup?
  • What features am I not using yet?

The answers help you understand both what you're already using and what you still need to configure. That's useful for onboarding, for periodic compliance audits, and for anyone doing a quick check before a meeting or review.

6. Understand Your Plan and Available Features

Sidekick can summarize your active plan, list its key included features, and give you a count of what's accessible versus what would require a plan change.

This is useful in a few different situations. If you're considering upgrading because you need access to a specific feature, you can ask whether that feature is already included before making a decision. If you're reviewing your costs or doing an internal audit of your tools, you can get a quick summary of what you're paying for and what it covers. And if you're onboarding a new team member who needs to understand your current setup, Sidekick can answer their questions directly.

Example questions:

  • Which Consentmo plan am I on?
  • What features are included in my plan?
  • Which plan is most suitable for my store?
  • What would I get if I upgraded?

7. Enhanced App Support For Your Questions

For store owners who manage compliance themselves without a dedicated legal or technical team, this is particularly valuable. It means faster answers to everyday operational questions, less time lost to navigation, and more confidence that the information they're acting on is current and specific to their store.

For merchants with teams, it also means that team members who are less familiar with Consentmo can get reliable answers without needing to escalate to someone with more experience.

Example questions to try:

  • What should I fix first?
  • Where do I review my compliance score?
  • Which privacy features are active?
  • What do I need to set up before I launch in a new market?

Sidekick becomes a first point of contact for common questions, one that's always available, always accurate, and always grounded in your live store data.

Important Limits to Know

The Sidekick integration is designed to be a fast, conversational layer on top of your Consentmo setup, not a replacement for the full dashboard. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Available on all plans. Everyone can use Sidekick but keep in mind some feature recommendations may be available on a Consentmo paid plan.
  • No PII is shared. Consentmo only returns safe counts, status checks, and existence-based answers. Customer names, emails, IP addresses, and other personal identifiers are never surfaced through Sidekick.
  • No changes without your confirmation. Sidekick can open menus, tabs, and settings pages, but it will not make any changes to your configuration without your final approval.
  • Auto-enabled. The integration activates automatically after you install Consentmo. No additional setup is required.
  • Grant access when prompted. When Sidekick asks for access to Consentmo GDPR data, select "Yes, and don't ask again" for faster answers in future sessions.
  • Ongoing development. The integration is actively improving, with deeper insights and more readable settings coming over time.

How to Get Started

If you already have Consentmo installed, the Sidekick integration is already active. Open Shopify admin, start a Sidekick conversation, and try a question like "Am I compliant?" or "What is my Compliance Score?" to see it in action.

If you're not yet using Consentmo, install it from the Shopify App Store to get started with GDPR, CCPA, and accessibility compliance and now, built-in Sidekick support from day one!

Why This Matters for Merchants

Privacy compliance is not a one-time task. Banner configurations, consent records, regional coverage, and feature setup all require regular review, especially as laws change and your store grows into new markets.

The Consentmo Sidekick integration removes friction from that ongoing effort. Instead of navigating multiple sections of the app to answer a single question, you can ask Sidekick and get an answer in seconds. That means faster audits, quicker gap identification, and more time to focus on running your store.

It's also part of a broader direction: compliance tools should work with how merchants actually operate, not against it. Bringing Consentmo's data into Sidekick is one step toward making privacy compliance feel less like overhead and more like something your store handles naturally.
