Recertification as a Google CMP Silver Partner

Consentmo has completed Google’s latest CMP recertification and remains a Silver partner. Here is what that means for Shopify stores as Google tag gateway and new partner standards roll out.
Consentmo is a Google Certified CMP Partner — Silver tier.

Good news from the Consentmo team: we completed Google’s latest CMP recertification and continue as a Google CMP Silver partner.

The status is not a one-time badge.

Google regularly refreshes what certified consent platforms must support. We went through the updated checks so your store stays on a CMP that meets current partner standards.

Recertification as a Google Silver CMP

Google keeps tightening how consent, tags, and measurement fit together. Certified CMPs have to prove, again, that banners, consent signals, and partner documentation stay aligned with those expectations.

For merchants, the practical outcome is simple:

  • Your CMP stays on Google’s certified partner path
  • Consent Mode support stays current as Google’s stack evolves
  • You get clearer guidance when newer tag setups show up in your stack

Silver status remains our tier after this review. We treat that as a promise to keep updating.

Consentmo listed as a Google Certified CMP Partner with Silver certification.

A quick word on Google tag gateway

Google has been rolling out Google tag gateway for advertisers (often shortened to GTG). In plain terms, it can serve Google tags through your own first-party path instead of only loading them as classic third-party scripts.

What that is not: a free pass around consent. Google’s own framing is that tag gateway does not collect extra data beyond what the Google tag already would, and it does not bypass choices made on a cookie banner. Consent Mode still shapes how tags behave based on what shoppers allow.

What can change is how and when tags load, especially if a store uses one-click or CDN-style injection. Load order and “when does consent arrive relative to the tag?” become more important. That is exactly the kind of detail Google now expects certified CMP partners to explain and support.

You can read Google’s overview here: Google tag gateway for advertisers and the setup guide.

What this means for your Shopify store

  1. Keep Consentmo installed and Consent Mode configured the way our setup flow recommends. Recertification does not force a reinstall for existing merchants.
  2. If you (or your agency) turn on Google tag gateway, treat it as a tagging change worth a quick consent check, not as something that replaces your CMP.
  3. If debug tools flag odd consent timing, start by confirming how tags are loaded, then use Consentmo’s docs and support. Advanced Consent Mode and clean container setups remain the calm, recommended path for many stores.
  4. Lean on us for changes. Google’s partner program will keep evolving. Staying Silver means we keep matching those updates so you do not have to track every internal partner memo.

Our commitment

Privacy tooling only works if it keeps pace with the platforms merchants actually use. Google Ads, Analytics, and Tag Manager sit at the center of that stack for a huge share of Shopify stores.

Remaining a certified Silver CMP is how we stay useful there: correct signals, sensible banner behavior, and documentation that matches how stores really implement tags today, including first-party gateway setups.

Thank you for building with Consentmo. If you want a second pair of eyes on Consent Mode, tag gateway, or a debug flag you are seeing, our support team is ready to help.
