What is Proof of Consent in Consentmo?

Proof of Consent provides detailed documentation of individual cookie consent decisions on your Shopify store. It shows what a visitor agreed to, when they made their choice, and the cookie banner they saw at that moment.

What information is included in each consent record?

Each record contains a unique consent ID, interaction type, timestamp with timezone, accepted or declined cookie categories, page URL, visitor country, device type, and masked IP address.

It also includes the banner's text, buttons, language, layout, consent model, cookie state before the visitor's choice, and displayed policy link.

Can I download proof of consent as a PDF?

Yes. You can open an individual consent record and download a PDF containing the visitor's decision, visit details, and banner snapshot. The PDF includes a QR code for verification.

What happens if I change my cookie banner later?

Previous consent records keep the banner snapshot that was captured at the time of the interaction. Changes to your banner's text, language, layout, or design do not modify those historical records.

Are consent records created for visitors who ignore the banner?

No. Individual consent records are created when visitors interact with the cookie banner, such as accepting, rejecting, or saving their preferences.
